What you can search

Exact anagrams use every entered letter exactly once. Phrase anagrams split all the letters across two or more words and appear progressively in the Anagrams results. Words from letters finds shorter words without using any letter more often than it appears in the input.

How the search works

The site downloads an Instant Anagram dictionary package for the selected language, then performs the search in your browser. The packages are processed runtime datasets rather than unmodified copies of the upstream word lists.

Results depend on the selected source list and on Instant Anagram’s filtering. No word list contains every possible word, spelling or inflected form. Phrase results are candidates assembled from the available list; they are not a complete catalogue of every linguistically possible or natural expression.

English dictionary source

The English package is based on the English Speller Database and SCOWL official tagged source, release rel-2026.02.25, maintained by the English word-list project. Instant Anagram uses selected standard US and GB records at SCOWL size 60.

The source is used under its combined upstream notice: Copyright 2000–2026 by Kevin Atkinson, with the acknowledgements and conditions included in the release. SCOWL draws on several sources; the complete combined notice remains preserved with Instant Anagram’s source records.

The build accepts lowercase single-word records in the supported alphabet, excludes abbreviations, word parts, non-words, less common variant levels and Canadian or Australian regions, then removes duplicates and applies the source-based ranking policy. These choices favour useful standard forms but necessarily limit coverage.
